Join us in Madrid
Our Madrid office opened in March 2025, marking the beginning of an exciting chapter for Geely in Spain. Following a successful setup, we are now entering a phase of growth, consolidation, and evolution. This is a unique opportunity to help structure, refine, and elevate our HR operations, processes, and people programs in an expanding international hub.
About the role
We are looking for an autonomous and proactive HR Business Partner to join our Corporate Operations team.
As the HR representative based in Spain, you will hold end-to-end responsibility for all HR activities locally, serving as the single point of contact for employees, managers, and external partners in Madrid.
You will report directly to the Head of Corporate Operations and collaborate closely with another HRBP based in Sweden as part of our international People & Operations function. In this 360° role, you will combine high-level strategic partnering with full operational execution, managing everything from payroll, benefits, and recruitment to compliance, PRL, and day-to-day office management.
What you’ll be doing day-to-day
Local Ownership & Global Collaboration
Act as the sole local HR lead for Spain, taking full ownership of the end-to-end HR function and lifecycle for the Madrid office.
Report directly to the Head of Corporate Operations and work closely with the HRBP in Sweden to align European HR practices, exchange best practices, and collaborate on regional initiatives.
Strategic Partnering & Culture
Serve as a trusted advisor to the leadership team and people managers, aligning people strategies with business objectives.
Be the local culture ambassador, driving initiatives that promote company values, employee engagement, and organizational efficiency.
HR Operations, Payroll & Benefits
Manage the end-to-end payroll process in collaboration with our external payroll provider (gestoría), ensuring accurate monthly execution and seamless onboarding/offboarding workflows.
Administer the local benefits package, including health insurance, life/accident policies, allowances, and flexible remuneration tools.
Manage relationships with external HR suppliers, vendors, and health & safety (PRL) providers.
Talent Acquisition & Life-Cycle Management
Lead end-to-end recruitment for local vacancies, delivering a smooth candidate experience and partnering with hiring managers.
Coordinate performance management cycles, setting guidelines and KPIs aligned with business targets.
HR Projects & Strategic Compliance
Participate actively in key HR strategic projects, including the implementation of Job Architecture and preparing the organization for EU Pay Transparency Directive compliance.
Stay up-to-date on Spanish labor law and employment regulations to ensure full organizational compliance and smooth labor relations.
Office Management Support
Oversee day-to-day office management tasks (access management, workplace services, vendor coordination, and general office atmosphere) to ensure a high-quality employee experience.
What we hope you’ll bring to the team
Education: Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, Labor Relations, or a related field.
Experience: 5+ years of generalist HR / HRBP experience in a corporate or shared services environment in Spain.
Expertise:
Strong, hands-on knowledge of Spanish labor law, payroll oversight, and local benefits administration.
Familiarity with Job Evaluation frameworks (experience with Mercer IPE or job grading tools is a strong plus).
Exposure to end-to-end talent acquisition and vendor management (PRL, payroll, benefits).
Soft Skills:
Excellent interpersonal and communication skills with a strong client-facing / partner mindset towards managers.
High degree of ownership, detail orientation, and pragmatic problem-solving abilities.
Agility and adaptability to thrive in a fast-paced, multi-cultural global organization.
Languages: Native/Fluent proficiency in Spanish and English (mandatory). Mandarin is a plus.
Who you are
You are a hands-on, highly autonomous HR professional who is comfortable being the sole HR reference point in Spain. You enjoy combining strategic partnering with day-to-day operational execution without needing a local HR team around you. You are energized by taking full ownership, acting as the go-to person for leadership and employees in Madrid, while staying connected to an international team across Europe.
